Dick Wolff is the founder of Wolff’s Welding & Fabrication. While working as the plant manager in a major food production factory Dick was exposed to the craft of welding. He decided to leave the corporate world to pursue a more creative and fulfilling career as a craftsman welder. Dick opened up his first welding shop in Napa in 1978.   For over 35 years, Dick Wolff provided the Northern California Wine Country with quality welding and fabrication at a reasonable price.  

Dick loved the challenge of his work.   He prides himself in the ability to take his customers architectural desires and combine them with their practical needs.  The result is a a high quality product which is beautiful, functional and cost effective.  

Building upon the framework Dick created, Mike and the rest of the team at Wolff’s Welding & Fabrication are dedicated to carrying out Dick’s commitment to excellence.

Mike Lewis, Owner

Mike discovered drafting in his early teens.  His first exposure inspired him with the challenge of starting with a blank slate, imagining what was possible and using his drafting skills to create an artistic and practical plan which could be implemented in the shop to build whatever he and those he worked with had imagined.

While getting his degree in digital design, Mike began doing his first design work for a fabrication shop.  Here Mike learned the reward of working in a small shop with people who see their work as reflections of themselves and have strong relationships with their customers.

After graduating Mike spent many years working in the corporate world doing solar drafting.   While this work was challenging, it wasn’t fulfilling. Mike missed the contact with the customers and the craftsmanship that you can only find in a small fabrication shop.

Which brings us to Wolff’s Welding.

When Mike first met Dick Wolff and the crew, he knew they were his kind of people and this was his kind of shop.

The level of craftsmanship practiced at Wolff's Welding was obvious.  Mike knew this was a place where he would be held to the highest standards possible, where he could practice the ART of drafting, and where his plans would be executed with careful and artful precision.

Mike has learned to expect the unexpected while working at Wolff's doing fabrication for wineries.   Drafting for wineries is a fun and challenging puzzle...each job being different, mixing the art of design, the customers practical and fanciful needs, the materials used, the practical possibilities of welding, and the practical needs of the location where the install will happen.   He loves the challenge which each job brings to him and the creativity which each design calls from him.

Mike appreciates the integrity of the Wolff Welding shop.  With his work he continues to build on the trust the shop has created with their customers, one project at a time.  Every job is completed to perfection, with Mike, bringing artful creativity and functional practicality to every design.
